Looking for "Green" ideas?

I try to be environmentally conscious and friendly- I recycle everything I can, I take my own bags to do my shopping whenever possible, I use energy-efficient lightbulbs, I even conserve the water I use in my toilet!

I'm just wondering if anyone has any other quick, easy, and efficient tips to keep living green?

You can conserve even more water by reusing the dishwater collected in your sink to water houseplants or plants around your home. Do the same thing when you draw hot water for a bath or shower. Collect a bucket or two from the cool water that initially comes out of the spigot. If you do not have plants, you need to plant some or pot some for indoor air pollution control Plants contribute oxygen to the environment and clean the air.

You can replace light switches with motion sensors in some rooms so that lights only come on when motion is detected in that room. You won't have to remember to turn out the lights if you have one of these. Also inexpensive timers can be installed to replace light switches if you know you ALWAYS need a light on at a specific time(s) of the day.

During winter, you can turn your thermostat to a lower setting and wear sweaters indoors. In summer, turn it higher and drink more ice water (healthy). Guys, you can dampen your t-shirts in the summer to keep your skin cool. Use fans indoors, but turn them off when you leave a room. They only cool skin temperature, they don't actually lower the temperature in a room. In winter, point the fans upward to circulate the hotter air from the top of the room to all around the room. And keep your doors and windows shut as much as possible. It takes an air conditioner 10-30 minutes to remove the humidity that is allowed into a house from leaving the door/window open for one minute. This applies only when the air is humid outside of course. If the air temperature and humidty outside are comfortable, shut down the air conditioner or heater and let the fresh air in.

Buy a slow-cooker or crockpot, which pull only low amounts of 110-volt electricity instead of using an oven (uses 220-volts), microwave (very high energy users albeit for short bursts) or stoves. These devices also cook food in the most nutritious way: low and slow. Fewer vitamins are cooked out of your food. You can use slow cookers to brew teas as well. Just turn them on low all night, strain the tea or remove the bas in the morning, and use the cooker like a punch bowl the next day for hot tea.

During winter, pick up an indoor clothes rack to let your sweaters and blue jeans "air dry." This will allow humidity into your indoor environment, and that helps you and your plants. Heaters don't work by extracting humidity like air conditioners do. It also lowers the electricity load used by the dryer. You can always put these items in the dryer for five minutes to remove the ruffles and wrinkles. And always keep the lint trap on your dryer clean. That helps it run efficiently. Clean it after EVERY 2-3 loads.

When you do laundry, always do 2 or more loads in a row, saving the heat generated from the dryer for the next load to be dried.

Take showers of 5 minutes or less.

Turn off the water while brushing your teeth (I've found this is the hardest one for me!)

Open the fridge door only once, grabbing everything in one trip.

Compost everything you can. And never use a garbage disposal!

It's really too bad that Christs message was carried on by the church! Christianity hasn't been faith based since the 3rd century. And even then it was scattered in it's faith. You had John christians, Mary christians, Peter christians, and so on. Compared to the dark ages, and the inquisition this administration really dropped the ball. Although they gave it their best. I've always heard that history repeats itself. We are closer now to that happening now than we were 9 years ago!
