Prima di tutto si studia i segni dei contenuti dei moduli:
x – 1 >= 0 per x >= 1
2x + 1 >= 0 per x >= -1/2.
Quindi, primo caso:
| x < -1/2
| x + 2 – x + 1 = -2x – 1 (entrambi i contenuti dei moduli invertiti per la loro negatività)
| x < -1/2
| x = -2
x1 = -2.
Secondo caso:
| -1/2 <= x < 1
| x + 2 - x + 1 = 2x + 1 (invertito solo il primo contenuto del modulo)
| -1/2 < x < 1
| x = 1

| x >= 1
| x+2 + x - 1 = 2x + 1
| x >= 1

x >= 1.
Riassumendo, le soluzioni sono:
