Trouble setting up a router...?
I've established that the plug to connect to is working, but when i try to hook up my router to it (placing the ethernet cable in one of the router's ports and the cord to connect in the WAN) i get nothin. any ideas?
ultimately, the goal is to connect my PS3 to the internet, but in order to do so, i need to log into the network from a computer that is connected to the same router in order to get an IP address that will allow the PS3 online access.
the way i know there is a connection (without the router) is that i connected my computer without going through the router and was able to login to the network.
however, trying to connect through the router is giving me absolutely no internet access whatsoever. the three lights for the WAN part of the panel are "Link " "Act" and "Diag" The "Link is lit green and the "Act" will occasionally blink green. this help?

You are trying to connect what to the router? What convinced you that the devices plug is working? What convinces you that the ethernet cable you are using is good? Is it a straight-through cable, not a cross-over cable? Does the device and the router each have "link" lights? Does the link light come on when you plug in the ethernet cable? What do you have that is known to work? I don't ask to be snide, but starting from what is known to work, you can usually bootstrap your way up to at least identifying the piece that is broken.
It would help too if you'd give the big picture of what it is you are trying to acomplish. i.e. What did you have before and what motivates you to change it at this time.
As it stands, I can't even really guess here if I'm helping you with a hardware problem or with a software configuration issue.

Normaly you run their software firts then they give instructions like connect your modem to your wan, turn on your router, plug your ethernet cables, so they can stablish conecctions and diagnostic, some modems from your provider you has to change their settings before you set your router by change to bridge mode or ppoe or something.
