Who else thinks the Packers should fire Mike McCarthy ?

I asked the same question last year. I still see a team that is not prepared to play week after week. Stupid penalties that kill drives. Bad play calling, all reflections on the coach, should he be fired?

Update:

John, I'm not upset that the Packers got rid of Favre, actually I think that Favre got rid of the Packers. When McCarthy talked to him, Favre told him he wanted to play for the Vikings, how do you keep a QB that doesn't want to play for your team anymore? I'm not upset that they lost, I expected it, ya see I watch every Packer game, I thought they should have kept Sherman as coach but not GM. Thompson took a 4-12 team and restocked it with young talent that went to the NFC championship game 2 years later. Thompson made the right decision trading Farve. If you watched the game last night outside of the 2 turnovers Rodgers played better than Favre when he wasn't laying under a pile of Viking defenders. If Favre was the Packers QB last night he probably would have been sacked 10-15 times and thrown 4 int's because he's not as mobile as Rodgers and the Packers would have lost by more. As Driver and Woodson said, if they can protect him Rodgers would be the best QB in the NFL.

Update 2:

I'm not crying about losing 1 game, as I said I asked the same question last year when the Packers were 5-8. Sorry I don't live my life by who wins or loses football games, it's just a game. I just know a lot about the game, I've played it and watched it since I was 10 years old (old man of 49 now) and have always been a Packers fan and actually the Cowboys are my second favorite team. Unlike other fans I see things they way they are, sure I didn't like Favre leaving and would like to see him do good, I would just like to see the Packers do better and I think they can with the right coach.

Yes if he doesnt change it soon..I think he pass on every down too much..I think he could use a more balance attack to prevent so many sacks on the QB..I do think that Aaron rodgers is a very talented quaterback but they gotta protect him..

I understand they had injuries on the O-Line but one of the best ways to help protect the quaterback is run the ball..plus Ryan Grant is a pretty good back that isnt being utilized..If you pass all time then all they are going to do is zone blits the QB..

another thing they start drives and cant finish them because they do not run on short yardage situations but instead pass and give up sacks..

and definatley the penalites are a sign of lack of preperation which points at the coach..

McCarthy has shown a complete lack of discipline among the players, and total failure in having the qb get rid of the ball. 6 sacks to a winless Tampa team is beyond rediculous. i believe they had only 7 sacks coming into the Packer game. The total amount of penalties and play of special teams is abysmal. When is a Packer manager or coach going to realize how wasteful the 3-4 defense is in regard to Kampman? Al Harris is proclaimed to be one of the best press corners in the league? Who is the idiot that declared that staement? Harris has been burned more than a 3rd string rookie! Perhaps my tv is the only one that shows what a joke he is. As a lifelong Packer fan, this is sooo embarassing. I still believe Favre was the main problem with his wishy washy crap, but Ted has been so negligent in drafting a decent line, that the combo is just sad! Bottom line: It's time for Ted and Mike are shown the door. Al Harris should join them. The Packers need to demand a higher version of success than is being both given and accepted.

Your right this is a reflection on the coach! Last year the defense was horrible and they fired the whole coaching staff (defensive)!Well if your going to do the whole makeover it is your responsiblity to keep the right people!

The Lions and Browns and 49ers were able to sack Favre. The Packers gave him all the time needed to throw passes!Who is calling the plays for defese here?Someone is responsible and heads should be rolling!

No, McCarthy shouldn't be fire yet, no team will be consistent and win every week. The NFL is a sport with some parity in it and the Packers will never win every game. Every team has penalties, a bad call here and there. Most mistakes are on the players as well. You're just upset because your team got rid of Favre, last year and he beat your team yesterday, if you should be mad at anyone, it is Ted Thompson. He got rid of him, when Favre was ready and Thompson got what he deserved yesterday. Favre should never have been let go, last year by the Packers and it cost the them on Monday.

The Packers' problems begin with GM Ted Thompson. Rebuilding via the draft makes a lot of sense if you are looking to be good in 5 years from the the first day that you started. Thompson should have been drafting offensive lineman in the beginning rounds. We have one of the youngest O-lines in football. Hence, inadequate pass protection.

McCarthy is NOT as good as a coach as it once seemed. Having Brett Favre at QB "hid" a lot of the problem areas on offense. Rodgers' lack of experience (not his fault) exposes the offense for what it is. Mediocre talent that can't concentrate being disciplined and patient. Not one of them is All-Pro in caliber. There should be a Wonderlic test for football. Very few Packers have much "football sense" and it shows.

  • Sorry, but I don't agree. McCarthy is a great coach, and knows what he is doing. There is just problems with the players. A coach can only do so much with his team, there comes a time for the players to step up.

They need a new offensive line. Why isn't Kampmann rushing? He went from the 3rd best pass rusher in the league to a marginal outside linebacker.

The main problem is the hemorrhaging of talent, and that's not McCarthy's department. A talented OL would not give up so many sacks.

Ted Thompson must go! McCarthy is just Thompson's lackey.
