What types of first table foods can I give my seven month old baby?

My son will be seven months on sunday and he is showing signs that he is ready for table foods. He is sitting up in his high chair, he can pick up pieces of bread and put it in his mouth. I am still going to continue with his pureed foods I just want ideas of what I can give him after his meal to play with. So far I have given him Mum Mum cookies, Farley cookies, and small pieces of bread.

You can ditch the purees-They're not necessary or beneficial in at all. Once your son starts feeding himself you'll want to toss them out too!

He can eat lots, here's some my kids loved at first:

    -Whole wheat toast

-Cooked whole wheat pasta (no sauce)

    -Avocado slices

-Natural cheese (cut into strips or cubes)

    -Banana slices

    -Strips of grilled chicken breast

    -Strips of grilled tofu

    -Cheerios

    -Goldfish crackers

    -Slices of raw yellow squash

    Good luck!

There's no need to contine the purees once he can feed himself reasonably well. There's nothing magic about babyfood. So you'll probably be able to ditch the jars within a few weeks.

Once he can pick up foods and put them in his mouth, he can eat most fruits and veggies, cheese, crackers, toast, egg, small bits of meat, pasta, rice, potato, etc. Plenty there to make a meal for a 7 month old.

My 10 month old has had 8 teeth since he was 6months old. I have recently starting giving him, the toddler graduates food that Gerber makes. The have little weinies, diced fruit. He also likes saltine crakers, and certin number 3 gerber baby foods because these have bits of food in them. Also you doctor should have told you by now that you baby can have table food. Feed him/her whatever you eat, just in smaller bites. But watch your child carefully for choking. Good Luck.

Table foods such as soft bread, rice, fish, fruits, and vegetables are alright for your baby. Just don't forget to take note and observe foods that may block the airway of the baby. When it comes to sleeping at night, give him a baby sleeping bag and sing a lullaby to help put him to sleep. These are simple tips that can help a lot during parenthood.

He should be able to eat very small pieces of ripe, soft fruit (bananas, peaches), small bits of pasta and Cheerios. Good luck, though...once they start on table food, it gets increasingly difficult to get them to continue with baby foods. Have fun!!

I give my now 10 month old still toothless! daughter cooked potatoes, carrots, string beans, banana, plum, mango, cherrios, etc. Anything bite sized that is easy to gum! Just make sure that the peices are BITE sized for baby!

If he's your son, being a guy I can assure you he'd love nothing better than a thick juicy steak, perhaps some BBQ suace (good stuff not cheap stuff) and mushrooms. (MMmmmmmm I'm getting hungry)
