I don't believe what they're telling us! Do you mean to tell me with all the technology we have today, we have to use such primitive force as in destroying our only moon by way of *deadly* or *alarming* force?

There will be no danger, the destructiveness of such missiles will be the damage just a speck of dust, virtually nothing. Furthermore, these observations are quite controlled, and experience that has NASA on the moon is wide.
And for you more reports, they launched their Centaur rocket and later the LCROSS spacecraft (Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite) NASA has selected as the area of impact crater Cabeus A, and this expedition is launched just as it is presumed that indications are that 2% water in that area. The impact is scheduled for 11:30 UTC. The dust cloud will be examined by large telescopes.

did anyone happen to 'get' that they were crashing the thing into the DARK area , in a shadow?.... how do you see in the dark?.... the only way we could have seen something would have been if the plume lifted high enuff , like over the rim of the crater, up to where the sun was shining!!!.... think, folks!!.... deep crater, short plume... the only thing that saw much was the sheperd craft... its the one that was supposed to get the best look... and it did!.... wait for the results now......
I found this great animation of what they hoped and thought it would look like.... on You Tube... nice song with it, too....this is pretty close to what they thought would be seen.....

There was no flash or cloud eruption or any sign of it hitting the target. I think it went into the crater and straight through the other side!
