What is fennel seed used for?

Someone was cleaning and gave me a container of it.

    I like it in salad dressing with lemon.

    I like it in any red pasta sauce as well.

    Where I live fennel is a weed. I can't get it out of the garden.

    Fennel is a good herb for flavouring many dishes, my favourite being lamb tangine.

    Adds a really nice flavour to homemade sausage rolls! Don't use too much though as its very strong!

    I add to soups and always sprinkle some on boiled cabbage

    ever had italian sausage? it's the main spice flavoring in those. it's good in a lot of things.

    It is good in pasta dishes and on pizza. I love it on my sausage pizzas.

    I just want to add that i believe it has a licorice flavor
