Does Obama have enough class...?
to refuse to accept the Nobel Peace Prize? Especially in the light of such backlash over his being chosen.
Donna, just what did he do to win it? Intentions are not actions.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.
Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.
Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population.
For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama's appeal that "Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges."

I wish he would have enough class to tell the Nobel committee to wait until the end of his presidency to determine whether or not he's worthy of such a prize. Once the prize is awarded it can't be taken back and he still has more than three years left. That's plenty of time for him to do a world of damage to our country and everyone else....

did it occur to you to refuse might be considered an insult by our allies, the scandinavians? thanks, but we just got done with 8 years of a president who ran around insulting our friends and alienating our allies.
no, he didn't deserve it. he admits that. by the same token, the backlash has been irrational. if obama found a cure for cancer this afternoon, by this evening the republicans would be denouncing him for destroying free enterprise because cancer centers would have to close.
come on, there are legitimate reasons to criticize the man based on things over which he has control. let's try to keep our eye on the ball, huh? this is an unnecessary distraction.

Would YOU insult the Nobel Committee by refusing their prestigious prize?
Source(s): I sure wouldn't, that would be SO disrespectful. - 1 decade ago
He will accept the Nobel prize and hopes it helps him sell his policies. If I thought his policies were good for America I would be happy, but most of his policies only help the mega rich and will cost most of the public dearly.

No....he has enough class to do what is needed to win the prize, continue his goals towards EVERYONE working towards peace together and then, he donated the money to people in need.
Source(s): He is "managing" the communications that are making great strides to people actually working together. His intent is creating change. It's a terrible world where everyone judges rather than doing their part. It's been a terrible last two terms with someone in place that "directs" rather than "manages" the Presidency. For me, I think Mr. Obama's communication skills are what is going to continue to make changes. Now, we just need to get everyone to decide that communication rather than shutting down and not listening or being open is indeed going to continue to make this world better. Simple- yes. Will it work? Yes. - philLv 71 decade ago
no,he is so full of himself, that's ok,just shows what a farce the nobel prize is
