There is going to be no doomsday event in 2012. When something ends (even something as innocent as an ancient calendar), people seem to think up the most extreme possibilities for the end of civilization as we know it.
When astrologers speak of the planets being aligned (something which doesn't really concern astronomers) they don't mean that the planets will actually all lie on a straight line at some instant of time. One calculation of alignments within around thirty degrees (about as close as they can get) shows that the last such alignment was in 561 BC, and the next will be in 2854. All eight planets are somewhat aligned every 500 years, and are grouped within 30 degrees every 1 to 3 alignments.
As soon as a near-Earth object is discovered, scientists around the world begin tracking its orbital path.
Several days of observations are required before reliable and precise information on its orbit can be developed.
In the event that we do observe a near-Earth object whose future motion shows it to be a threat, understanding the objects size, shape composition and structure will help find the best way to avoid an impact.

Based on what? Primitive carvings from a long-dead culture found in some remote jungle? End of the world predictions from a people unable to predict their own demise? Really? These aren't the people I'd put in charge of *my* investment portfolio.
Just how did the ancient Mayans know about the Oort cloud? Or planetary alignments? Exactly what gravitational mechanism is supposed to send "millions of comets" hurtling at Earth - just at Earth? Are we some sort of cosmic bulls eye? Hit that tiny planet - no not that one... the planet over there, yeah, that's it - hit it and win 10 extra points!
Really!

every Winter and Summer solstice the earth and sun align as usual, there is nothing special about the 2012 alignment.
The Oort Cloud in its self is hypothetical, and millions of comets, there are quite a few asteroids and comets near earth, be scientist have all the orbits figured out and no near earth asteroid is even 1 on the Torino Risk Scale, so no need to worry.

The 2012 hoax is FANTASY, and SUPERSTITION not SCIENCE!
Do you really believe that the 30,000+ amateur astronomers in the USA, and the hundreds of professional astronomers, would have just MISSED seeing Planet X!
No where on the internet can you find the sky coordinates of Planet X.
No Near Earth Objects are on a collision course with Earth right now for 2012, and a pole shift will occur in maybe another 20,000 years.
Also, the Earth and the sun line-up on the center of the Galaxy EVERY YEAR on December 21st! We are about 6 degrees away from the center and moving further AWAY!
So please forget about this 2012 nonsense.

Watch this famous astronomer Neil deGrasse Tyson as he makes fun of the 2012 hoax.

Read NASA's 2012 debunking web site and see what REAL scientists say about 2012.
As for the Mayans, they believed that the Earth was flat and had 4 corners. They also believed the sky was held up by 5 trees each a different color, and the Earth was resting on the back of a gigantic crocodile floating on a huge pond of water lilies! and of course, they worshiped the SUN god!
Good grief!

Someone is lying to you. There's no alignment and the objects in the Oort cloud are not all going to fall to Earth for no reason in 2012. Don't worry.

There is no scientific reason for any comets hurtling toward Earth in 2012. If that were to happen, we would know.
I have heard at least 30 theories about why the Earth will end in 2012, they are all crap.

development a missile may well be a try of religion. Why spend the final days of your existence development a missile, if there is little wish of fulfillment? those with faith, might build the missile. those without faith will in all probability be drowning themselves interior the pleasures of the flesh together as ignoring all accountability, as in "consume, drink, and be merry, for the following day we die!" that's what occurred the final time there replaced right into a time-honored perception that the worldwide replaced into ending. It occurred in 1844 and is standard because of the fact the super unhappiness. Farmers did not plant flowers, and individuals have been ate up with the pursuit of delight, because of the fact they believed the worldwide replaced into coming to an end.
