About my credit report?
I just went online for my credit report and there are a few things listed from companies I don't recognize. How do I request more information so I know wether or not to dispute the claim? I don't recognize the company, or the amount that I supposedly owe so I'd like to investigate it a bit.

Usually the company that gives you the report gives you an 800 number to call if you have any inquiries or to dispute any listing you are not aware of.
But there are few things you need to consider:
1- There is soft inquiries and hard inquiries. Not all inquiries affect your credit score and not all inquiries obtain all the information about yourself; those are called soft inquiries. The hard inquiries are those you worked with the creditor to obtain credit (for example a car loan application, a credit cards application, etc). The hard inquiries are done by those companies which you submitted an application to and they do affect your score based on approval or disapproval
2- Your bank maybe listed as a different name (usually a bigger bank or a financial firm that own the bank). For instance, your local bank might be called xyz, but the inquiry is done under name llc z inc. and you are going to wonder who is (llc z inc)?? So, don't panic!
3- You can call the bank or the institution that made the inquiry. Most def. there is an 800 number on the credit history for each one that made an inquiry.
You can also always walk to your bank and ask for general guidelines. The front desk attendant will be more than happy to guide you (if he or she aint busy), or at least they will give you hand outs!
Hope this helped

What are the items you don't know? Have you tried to contact the people who put those items on your report? You can contact the credit reporting agencies for more information if you want the address and phone number on file.
