what's the quickest 40 yard dash ever done by a pro american football player?

I'd like to know just because I'm really interested in it. Could you please state their name and 40 yard dash time, so I know who it was that did it, thanks.

High school freshman? That's not the best, but it's pretty good for a freshman. I can't believe that some imbeciles actually compared that to NFL... The best that best freshman could EVER hope for is maybe 4.7... I played freshman football at my school, and our best player was a running back, and he only ran a 5.4 40 or something like that - which was shocking because of how good he looked on the field. He had sick moves and was so elusive and had very good power, which more than made up for it. He went balls out full speed on the field, so he looked as if he had very good speed as well. They often say that the 40 yard dash is not a good indicator of 'football speed', and if you have a guy who runs a 4.4 40 but doesn't go full speed on the field and a guy who runs a 4.7 40 but runs as if his life depends on it every play, you would obviously prefer the guy who runs a 4.7. Guys like Devin Hester and even Jerry Rice ran terribly disappointing 40's at the combine, and Devin Hester has been an alright returner in his short career, and Jerry Rice actually did do alright at receiver in case you didn't know. And so what if Reggie Bush has blazing speed. He can't break a tackle, has averaged a mediocre 3.7 yards per carry in his career, and he is on pace for a career low 59 receptions this year - his receiving ability has been his saving grace thus far in his career, and he needs more receptions than that to compensate for his mediocre running abilities. The Texans were smart to pass him up. Speed is overrated. Football speed is all that really matters.

William "The Refrigerator" Perry was the quickest of all-time, with a time of 2.3 seconds. Someone put a ham sandwich at the finish line.
