What blocked the United States from getting the Olympics?

The majority of the poorly managed 'projects' in Chicago, were in need of extensive repairs and were violence ridden. Thus, they were in dire need of immediate demolition. The increase in property taxes to run away those people who were considered 'undesirables.' The increased violence overall throughout the city and most recently in the school system, didn't help. The final nail in the coffin came, when the 16-year-old boy (honor student) was beaten with 2 x 4s and plummeted to death, right outside of his school. It was more profound because it was captured on video and put on the You Tube, which offered the incident worldwide coverage. All of the internal problems that Chicago had, did not exemplify a place where Chicagoans, nor countries from around the world, would feel safe. Remember, it has always been stated that "Charity begins at home and then it spreads abroad." I wish for all of us to have that love and consideration for all that God has created, ad infinitum. To be fair to everyone, the Olympics alternates between various countries around the world. The Olympics were recently held in Salt Lake City. Maybe it just wasn't the US's turn to host another Olympics so soon.

Democracy! Believe it or not, the people involved voted for Rio. Why they voted that way is, in the best traditions of democracy, secret unless they choose to tell. Now, if you are a believer in democracy you should accept the result, even though you may disagree with it.
