Enlightenment, non-dual mind and psychedelics?
Do you think it would be useful to incorporate psychedelics to start down the path of enlightenment for those who lack the discipline necessary for Zen meditation practices? I've often been able to reach the state of mind by both routes, but not sure how to replicate the results on a friend of mine.
Are there any ways I can better assist with the removal of the ego?

I don't know much about Zen meditation practices or the idea of "ego", but no one else is speaking up so....
My own childish experiences with this (psychedelics) were terrible. An unguided trip can be wonderful and damaging . Your friend is not unguided though so that is a big plus. If you are trying to make one who is not open aware, this is certainly one way to do it.
In your experience with your friend though, be careful removing the ego and the idea of guiding in general. You may be more spiritually aware or open than this person, but that does not make your truths true. What we are is much more true than what we think.
Better ways? Gosh, there isn't any other way I know of to quickly look under the hood. Clear, well defined thought experiments in the form of questions maybe...
