How can I save this sparrow?
I found a sparrow in my bird feeder and it was motionless. It is breathing, but it will not open it's eyes or eat. I watched it an hour and realized it was ill.As it was going down to freezing last night, I decided to put it in a large shoe box with seed, water, and raisins and keep it warm overnight. It lay on it's side all night. This morning, it sat up and drank some water from a dropper, but is not eating. It is sitting there with it's eyes closed. Is there any hope for this bird? I can see no injuries.

You didn't say how old but if the bird is drinking then yes there is hope. But needs food. With a sparrow I have used canned cat food or human baby food (meat variety) in an eye dropper or a small syringe w/out the needle of course. If it flew onto your feeder it should be able to swallow so give it the food just like you are giving the water (may need to mix the cat food with a little water to get it to come out of the eye dropper). Litttle bit at a time. Call around or look online for a wildlife rehabber who is willing to continue and release the bird when it is well enough. Good luck.

i'm going to offer you 2 solutions. area one by way of occasion i'm going to apply the Mojave barren area in California. some years there are various rabbits. this suggests next twelve months there will be greater coyotes. And by a similar simplified occasion the subsequent twelve months there should not be too many rabbits, because of the fact the growth in coyote numbers makes the rabbit inhabitants dwindle(this cycle occurs purely approximately each and every twelve months). Sparrows are the rabbits of the poultry worldwide. Many different greater birds and animals remember on those sparrows. My 2nd answer is that saving the poultry became very humane of you(some people think of we would desire to continually basically save cuddly, gorgeous animals and kill all grotesque, propose ones). super prepare in case you intend to be a poultry rehabilitator or a veterinarian! purely beware for lice, etc close to kinfolk birds and pets.

I hate to be a grim reaper, but a wild bird will not do well with human handling in captivity. You should contact a wildlife conservator, or call your vet and ask their advice.
It's just that I've been down this same road with a baby sparrow, and it was heartbreaking.
Good luck to you and the sparrow.

Oh. man, yes there's hope! You have to get some food into it! Got cat or dog food? You will have to force it to eat some until it gets a little stronger and is able to eat by itself.
Or, get it to a wildlife rehabber immediately.
