Hey steak-lovers, how do you get your steak ready for the grill?
Whats your favorite way to prepare a steak? Marinade? Dry rub?

a really nice steak (new york, rib eye) i leave on the counter for at least an hour so it gets to about room temp. salt it with sea salt pepper it with fresh ground pepper right before i cook it then grill it or cook it in a super hot pan with olive oil on the stove. a cut of meat that isn't as nice (sirloin) i also leave out but i rub it with worcestershire sauce and let it sit. i prepare it with the salt and pepper and grill. i don't do much to a steak because i think steak is fine on it's own. it doesn't need fancy seasonings or marinades. i also eat my steak rare to medium-rare. i like a nice sear on the outside and i like it red on the inside.

We use the Brand McCormick's Steak rub and Worcestershire sauce only. I rub the meat good on both sides then top it off with Worcestershire sauce..let sit for 30 minutes on counter then throw on hot grill..That is for Rib Eyes only..All the other steaks I do the same thing but 24 hours ahead of time as I don't think any other type of meat is as tender as rib eye (excluding fillet Mignon).

I simply sprinkle both sides of the steak with salt and then let it sit out on the counter for about 30 minutes to warm up. It lets the salt pull a bt of moisture to the surface of the steak so it will get better color. Then I grill it for a few minutes on each side for a medium rare to medium doneness and let it sit for 5-10 more minutes after it comes off the grill to let the juices inside redistribute. What can I say, I'm a purist.

Let the steak come to room temperature (about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.)
Grill on side one, depending on the thickness, without turning or puncturing.
Flip. Half the time on that side to desired doneness.
That is all.
For marinaders and sauce users, well, I don't know. I don't use that stuff.

Poke holes in the steak. Marinade in Worcestershire sauce. When finished, rub on some Steak seasoning. Then sprinkle with a little EVOO and grill. YUM!

Soak that steak in Italian Dressing for a minimum of one hour before you grill... overnight is great too.
You will LOVE it.

Try and buy meat that has been "hung" for a while.
Marinade in your favourite over night and should be ready.
Remember to let the meat "rest" before serving.

I marinate a lot of cuts of meat, but steak isn't one of em'. I like it all natural and rare.
