yes and there is a written and driving test that goes with that you must pass. The point system on these are very strict also if you get tickets, etc. very easy to loose them.

Are you asking a pair of license to stress a truck? the reason I ask is given which you place this in the plane section. while you're asking a pair of commercial pilot's license, the solutions would be somewhat diverse.

Certainly - it's federal law.
To operate a semi, you'll need a Class A CDL, which allows you to operate articulated commercial vehicles.
