I find the evidence for evolution as compelling as I find religious based explanations lacking

If by "believe in", you mean "to be certain of something without supporting evidence", as hypothetical deities are believed in, then, no.
I trust that the Theory of Evolution is a well tested hypothesis that has passed all tests with flying colors and has predicted many things that were later found to be real. It is now the foundation of all biological and medical science and the basis of a billion dollar industry that produces evolved life forms almost on demand by replacing natural selection with human selection.
This last is nothing new, since most modern domesticated species were evolved from wild species by this process by early man. But they did it without a comprehensive theory of how the process worked. It just made sense to them that if you breed only the best (by your own definition of best for your own purposes) stock, then future generations of it will be closer to your desired form.
We were in the business of evolving stuff long before the process was named evolution.

I believe there is a correlation of evolution and Adam & Eve ... my concept is that animals evolved in a way to provide suitable housing for "naked" souls such as were Adam & Eve, and with flesh : the strife of life (not really a curse) - pain in childbirth (had there not been pain , woman may have litters ... babies are so cute), struggles to subdue the earth and tend gardens ... builds muscle, stamina and fortitude and food ... so I do believe there is a correlation of evolution and spiritual influence ...
There were 20 different forms of man prior to Homo sapiens (most recent before Homo sapiens - Homo erectus had ability for speech where neaderthals didn't have the same capabilities for the amount of language possibilities, so Homo erectus evolved into Homo Sapiens rather than the neanderthals ... though their influence was hugely important).
Also, the difference of vegetable diets to meat diets as the Lord supplied us with both ... the protein in meat helped the Homo erectus brain develop faster than neaderthals ... but nothing in overabundance is good, the protein was valuable.
Quite interesting if you truly consider the interconnectedness of these events without prejudice.

No, Christians believe in the unseen. Scientists believe in what can be seen.
The thing is; what can be seen only lasts for so long....what can not be seen lasts FOREVER.
