I am planing on purchasing an electric assist scooter, the baja BE500

Are there any licensing or registration requirements in TX for this vehicle? Info from texas users is appreciated. My second option is the gas powered baja SC50 49cc scooter.

In Texas there is no legal definition of scooter. It will either have to be registered as a moped or a motorcycle. It must also be on the approved lists of mopeds as well as be limited to a maximum of 30 mph, engine sizes of 50cc and not require the operator to shift gears in order to be considered a moped. Either way a class M license is required so expect to have to take a motorcycle safety course.

You need to have a scooter license not a motorcycle license. By the way, I would recommend www.ivoog.com
