Can I use 2 cycle fuel in a car?
I have a few gallons of 2 cycle fuel (unleaded & oil). Can I get rid of this fuel by putting it in my car? Will it generate any appreciable smoke?

dump it in on a near full tank and your fine. i do it all the time. it won't smoke as much as you think it might. it will give added boundry lubrication to the top ring and top of the cylinder also.
it will not harm the cat or the O2 sensor unless its very excessive.
edit: actually putting it in a lawn mower is a good idea as long as its not real old gas. a mower would benefit from the upper cylinder lube very nicely as long as its diluted enough like 50 or 100 parts of gas to one part of oil. i do that too.

First, you are right not to keep petrol over the winter, it does deteriorate and tends to gum up your 2-stroke engine. But most 2-stroke oil is 5% oil, if you mix one gallon into a 20-gallon petrol tank you dilute it down to 1/4 of 1%. My advice is just to fill your car tank right up and dilute it as much as possible. There's another lesson here though. Don't keep a large amount of 2-stroke petrol, just get enough for a week or 2 so you have less to get rid of when the winter comes. I have a petrol strimmer and i just fill it with fresh petrol before each use, I don't keep ANY spare petrol now.

the main thing about it is it will cause a little smoke nothing like plooms of it all depending on what the ratio of gas there is to oil and how much you normal gas you have in your tank
but if you do do it don't pore all of it in at one time like every time you fill up add a gallon but burning oil causes excess carbon build up so once you get rid of this 2 stroke gas don't do it very often at all

No. It isn't intended for a 4 cycle engine, and will generate smoke and possible other problems.

i won't hurt anything just do it no more than a gallon or two at a time and make sure you have at least a 1/2 tank or more in the car to dilute it.
Source(s): I always do this every year after grass and leaf season to get rid of left over 2 cycle gas because it goes bad before next spring..never had a problem - PopeyeLv 41 decade ago
i have been a mechanic and a repair shop owner for over 13 yrs and ive never heard of this ever being done or used in a car and i wouldn't advise useing that kind of oil in your car at all you never know what might happen and could be very costly to repair

Seems like I read somewhere that this will ruin your oxy sensor, and certainly might affect other components like the catalytic converter also. Better not take a chance.
Run it in your lawn mower. No problem there.
Give it to a neighbor...

If it's left over from the summer season you can get a product called STA-BIL. It;s a fuel stabilizer that will help keep it fresh and you can use it next year.

im thinking you mean 2 stroke and if so I would not do that. Yes I would imagine it will cause a bad smoke problem.
