1920-1930's Chicago-style jazz?
I am looking for some, what I call, Chicago-style Jazz, with the old 1920-1930's feel. THe music where you would see some one walking in the dark streets, trumpet in the background.
Not sure what it is called. It may not even be the 1920's, or a trumpet.
Can anyone direct me?

The first 3 songs are more or less the definition of the Chicago Style.
If you need further information on Chicago Style read the following essay on the Austin High Gang. Members of this group defined the Chicago Style. When they were older, they recorded 6 sides together. 2 sides with Chicago Rhythm Kings on Brunswick and 4 sides with McKenzie & Condon's Chicagoans. Very essential for the Chicago Style is the rhythm section. Listen to these recordings and you'll understand what Chicago Style means...

Mark's answer is great. Another would be Jimmy Rushing's "Goin' Down Slow", a very eerie blues with horns underscoring the despair. Or, perhaps something from Joe Henderson's saxophone despite him coming along decades later. He has some of the saddest instrumentals.
