  • JVC KD-AVX2 or KD-AVX44 In-Dash Unit?

Looking to replace my old JVC unit with a newer one.

Not interested in paying more than $250 on eBay for a new unit.

I am a fan of JVC and would prefer to stick with them.

    Looking at the following models:

    KD-AVX2 / http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?archiv...

    KD-AVX44 / http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?modelI...

The AVX44 does have built in Bluetooth, but does not have any hard buttons to push.

Not sure which model would be better, or if there are any within that price range on eBay that would be better.

Any suggestions or input would be very helpful.

Planning on making the purchase tonight.

    Thanks in advance

  • 1973 Yamaha TX750 no spark / no start...?

I have inherited a 1973 Yamaha TX750 from a great unclue of mine.

The bike had been sitting in a barn for over 20 years.

Just got it home a few days ago, and started tearing it down for inspection and cleaning.

Flushed the system, as well as cleaned the carbs.

The bike has compression and will crank over, but no fire.

I checked for spark on each cylinder, but no spark.

In the manual it states to honk the horn and test the brake lights.

If the horn and brake lights do not work, there is a bad wire or broken wire.

The horn does not work, and the rear brake light sensor is missing from the pedal.

Not sure where to start with this one.

Would like to hear it run before I dump a ton of money into it.

    Any suggestions would be great.

  • Dell Latitude D820 Display / Driver Issues?

A friend of mine has a Dell D820.

A few months ago, I upgraded his OS to Windows 7.

Just a week or two ago, we installed more memory (RAM).

The laptop had been working great for about 4 days after we installed the RAM.

He had left his laptop on for a few hours, left the office, and came back, the screen had shut off.

He could not get the screen to turn back on after restarting, not even showing the splash screen or any BIOS menus.

We took out the RAM, Battery, Internal Battery, and tried to reset the unit.

    This did not help us.

Plugged in an external monitor, so we could see whats going on, and it's getting a BSOD error about reinstalling display driver.

We installed the proper display driver from Dell.com and continued to get the BSOD, right after the "Starting Windows" screen.

I then uninstalled the driver and rebooted the machine. The machine started up fine with no BSOD error. Still using the external monitor.

If we reinstall the driver, we get the BSOD error.

Note: We have been using the FN key and the F8 to switch between the laptop screen and external monitor to see if anything has changed.

We performed several tests. During one of the boot tests, the laptops display had worked.

    This was a pre-boot test.

    Now I am completely lost.

Please excuse all teh details. Your help is greatly appreciated.

  • AT&T Alternate Option: Smartphone w/ No Data Plan?

My wife and I have recently switched our phone service from Centennial Wireless to AT&T, since both companies merged. We have been using our unlocked smartphones for several years and have no had to use a data plan. Both phones have WiFi.

This year, AT&T has changed their Terms and Services. Their systems recognize what kind of phone you are using. In our case, we are using smartphones. The system automatically adds a Data Plan to each phone without notice. We originally switched to AT&T to save money, and now we are forced to pay an additional $15 per line.

    My questions:

    - Can we switch to PrePaid / GoPhone and keep our numbers?

    - We should be able to utilize our phones on each of these services, but would we be safe from the forced data plan?

Most people would tell us to go get flip phones or downgrade. Why downgrade when we have perfectly working devices that do everything we need?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I am trying to balance my budget and figure the best way to pay off my credit card. Currently working side jobs, just enough to pay the bills and then some. It stupid enough of me to have racked up $1,600, and even worse of me to have the card.

Any suggestions would be great. I've already slapped myself for this problem.

  • Wife on birth control. Loss of sex drive.?

For several years, my wife has taken birth control to help control womanly pains.

I noticed that she has changed, not only her sex drive is down, but her confidence, and moods have changed. She is not the same person that she was a few years ago.

After doing some research, I found that birth control can cause loss of sex drive, and change her mood.

Is anyone else being crippled by this?

Are there any supplements or herbal remedies for this?

Thank you in advance for the suggestions or comments.

  • Recessed florescent lights in garage / shop?

I am finishing the drywall in my two car garage. It is used more for a shop than agarage.

My question is, would it be good or bad to recess my 4 - 48" florescent shop lights into the ceiling for a cleaner look?

Looking to create finished capsules for each to set in, to keep the clearance for tall items to be moved around.

  • Why is my Verizon DSL so slow with my Linksys WRT320N attached?

I have used Verizon DSL for years now, and always used Linksys routers for wireless. In my house I have a Verizon modem (Westell 6100F) and a Linksys WRT320N router.

I have noticed horrible speeds since I got the WRT320N. Is there a way to fix this? Settings? Do the units get too hot?

    Any help is appreciated.

  • Shop light not staying on? Help...?

I have a pair of shop lights in my garage that have been wired by an electrician.

They both plug into outlets that are switched by one switch.

Last week, one of the fixtures stopped working. Both bulbs in that fixture will light up for a second, then go dark. No humming or burnt bulbs.

Could this be a bad ballast?

  • Yamaha Raptor electrical problems... Hot battery wire...?

I've got a big bore 2001 Yamaha Raptor.

Just replaced the one-way starter bearing, and having problems getting the quad to fire. Not getting a continuous crank, but a pause between each stroke. I had not made any adjustments or changes when replacing the one-way bearing.

Before the old bearing went out, I had a problem with my positive battery cable getting hot.

I've done the following to diagnose the problem:

    - Check for spark with the plug in, low / no spark.

    - Check for spark with no plug in, great spark, and continuous crank.

    - Replaced coil

    - Replaced Battery

    - Replaced cables

    - Checked all connections and fuses

I just purchased a Grizzly battery, since it is a big bore and wouldnt hurt to have the extra cranking power. I have not used the battery yet.

Is there any good way to test the solenoid?

    I do appreciate the help.

  • Buying a laptop at Best Buy? Under $600?

I am looking to buy my wife a laptop at Best Buy on Monday. She will use it for email, pictures, and just internet browsing. Nothing too much, like games or editing of any sort.

Can anyone tell me what would be my best bet for now? I have been looking at ASUS, ACER, and TOSHIBA brands at the moment. I have had good sucess with those brands, but not sure what would be the best deal right now.

Not sure if Best Buy does any bargaining. I did look at Consumer Reports as well as Cnet Reviews.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Need help dealing with a shipped and damaged Alienware laptop? FedEx?

So, I sent my Alienware laptop in for repair, due to a faulty LCD screen. Alienware sent me a shipping label, because the unit is under warranty.

I get an email today stating that the technicians reviewed my unit and can not warranty it, because it was dropped. They want to charge me $541.08 to repair the case and the LCD screen.

I called them and explained to them, why I couldnt accept that answer for a $2,900.00 laptop.

They seem like they could care less.

I called FedEx and filed a claim. They want to go to teh facility to examine the box and unit. Alienware accepted the box, and took pictures of it after FedEx dropped it off. Wouldn't you think they would accept responsibility to deal with FedEx?

This is my primary machine, I don't know what to do.

Any suggestions or help would be great.

  • Flash or JAVA app. for HTML pages? Uploading images?

I am looking for a simple app, or add-on for Dreamweaver that will allow me to upload images or possibly videos, without having to use Dreamweaver. Such as what MySpace or Facebook uses. I am not familiar with PHP, but use simple HTML at this time.

If anyone could point me in the direction of any scripts or apps. that would be great. Please don't criticize, just looking to do some simple pages, not a multimillion dollar site.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Looking to improve my wired/wirelss home network setup...?

I have a handful of devices that are connected to my home network, some are wireless, and some are hard wired. I'll start off by listing my devices, location, and connection:

    - Laptop (wireless / 5 feet from the router)

    - PC (hard wired / in basement, approx 20 feet from router)

    - XBOX 360 (hard wired / 12 feet from router)

    - Garage PC (wireless / approx. 50 feet from router)

(Connected through access point in basement)

I am currently using a Linksys WRT54GS V.6 router. I also have a wireless access point that I have placed in my basement, so I can connect my garage PC to the network.

.My devices are not all running at the same time, at the max, 2 of them would be. I do have the garage PC connected through the Access Point, that is located in teh basement.

Not sure if I have this set up correct. I tend to lose internet connection when usingg the garage PC and Laptop at the same time.

I am connected to Verizon DSL, but that should not matter.

Any help is appreciated, suggestions are highly welcome too.

  • 1920-1930's Chicago-style jazz?

I am looking for some, what I call, Chicago-style Jazz, with the old 1920-1930's feel. THe music where you would see some one walking in the dark streets, trumpet in the background.

Not sure what it is called. It may not even be the 1920's, or a trumpet.

    Can anyone direct me?

  • Employer, economy, disability, and life?

I have been working for my current employer for a few years now. He has changed business ideas, and never sticks to one plan. We have lost a lot of money and have not made any throughout the few yars I have worked for him. He is older and retired, but wishes he would have not retired.

I sit in front of my computer all day, trying to find things to do to benefit the company, but never get through to him. We have tried selling many products, and have offered different services, but he just has too many things going on at once.

I feel as if he is trying to bore me to the point of quitting, but I'm not sure if that is what his plans are. The economy is bad, and I have a house and a family to take care of.

On top of all that, I am blind in one eye, and have poor vision in the other. I am limited to the types of jobs I qualify for, and have considered disability. If I file for disbility, I feel as if I am taking advantage of something. I would rather work hard for my money.

I am very stressed, and I go home feeling tired sometimes, and just feel as if Im not pulling my weight. I feel as if my wife is working 10 times harder than me.

Im not trying to compain about life, but I want a challenge, not a boring useless job.

    What are your thoughts?

  • What to do with a farm in northwest Ohio?

Our family farm is practically falling apart.

We do not farm it ourselves, but hire someone to plant and harvest.

The income that we are left with pays for the taxes, and thats about it.

Our largeest barn has fallen down, and the other buildings are falling apart. The farm house is being used by family members, but is not energy efficient.

We had a family feud a few years ago, because the farm was not being taken care of, and people were leaving junk laying around in the yard and whatnot.

Many people suggested that we put up some greenhouses and start an organic co-op from the farm, this could generate jobs for unemployed family members, as well as people around the area.

We have little-no money to invest into the farm, what would you suggest?

Selling is not an option, because the farm has been in teh family for years, and the town will just put houses on it.

    ANy help is appreciated.
