Movie title with a silver space ship?

Ok, i used to watch this movie all the time, and i recently saw a mock cnn story with a screen shot from the movie. wondering if you could help me out! it is an older movie, and i remember that there was a kid who was abducted. the spaceship would transform shape in order to fly faster, or whatever. here is a link to the image.
