With a budget of near 10,000, you should be able to purchase that not only has what you need but also what you want. Assuming this is your first ever car, you will probably want something cool, roomy and reliable. In today;s market, a car with these requirements may be easier to find than you think. In California, many teens think that German cars are the cars to get but in many cases and Japanese or American car will outperform a car of German descent. Since you live in California, a car that is stylish is almost considered a necessity since this will be the car you drive to school and show off to the many people that will say "You have a car?" You should realize that buying your first car is very crucial as this will develop your opinion about Auto companies and your overall experience when you look back at this. A car that immediately comes to mind would be the 1990-1996 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo. You may look at this car as being old but it is considered on the Top 100 list of best designed cars. And this car was on the Top 10 List on the Car and Driver Magazine for 6 years in a row. The Twin Turbo model is considered to be better than the 2003-2005 Nissan 350z and since this car is bred from Nissan, you are guaranteed great perfomance. But an old car may not interest which leads to the 2000-2004 Honda S2000, this car may only come in manual but it is well worth learning it. You should great consider this car since it has one of the best engines ever conceived in the year 2000 and has one of the highest spinning engines. But just naming 2 cars is not going to do you any good so here is a list of cars that you might find to your liking.

You will have to get a used car for under $9000 with all the taxes and stuff. If you get a Honda or Toyota, they will last forever, like through college. But for $9k, you can get a really good one just a couple years old! Girls with jeeps are pretty cool. Older ones are pretty cheap, but in the rain, sometimes they leak and the winter wind gets in, right in your left ear. I personally like the Suzuki Grand Vitara. It has a good engine and they don't break down if you do the maintenance like you are supposed to. Plus they are nice inside, with a good stereo. The back seats fold down so you can haul large school projects. And the back seats can fit 3 kids pretty comfortably. Larger adults would be limited to 2, kinda tight, but not bad. You can get a good one for about $7k, like a 2005. Oh, and it is a 4x4 and climbs off road pretty good!

Thats a hard one. The best thing to do is shop shop shop. Have a mechanic of your choice check out the vehicle before buying. Good luck!
