A person could continue serving 4 years terms without limit until the 22nd amendment to U. S. Constitution was ratified on 2/27/1951.

they could have served as president as many times as they wanted until death and if they got the votes to become pres.

it was as many as they wanted b/c theodore rosevelt was president for 12 years
