The Mayan Calendar: 2012 Predictions?

this is pretty random because this just came to my mind after i watched the advert of the new movie "2012" 

What do you think about the predicions that the mayan calendar has said about 2012?

    The Mayan calendar seems to say that the world will end in 2012 (Crowley, Phil. 2012, Decoding the Past. Original air date 03/01/07).

    The ancient Maya have prophesied that the world will come to the end on 13 Baktun on their current calendar. This date translates to December 21st, 2012...A new age may occur...

    Others...see destruction...

    The last page of the Dresden codex actually shows the destruction of the world via water...

    This graphic illustration depicts the destruction of the earth by flood...

    Others see it as a day of rebirth...

    Others see it literally, with very severe consequences (Mayan Doomsday Prophecy, Decoding the Past. Original air date 08/03/06).

So we see two interpretations from different sources that indicate that either something terrible or something very good will happen in or near the end of 2012. 

While most people believe nothing other than some astronomical occurrences will happen then (and the Mayans were apparently correct about that according to astronomers), some believe that the Mayan 2012 date may mark the end of civilization or perhaps the beginning of a time of great tribulation.

there was an article online recently.  it was about a mayan elder saying the world is not going to end.

The Mayans never finished the calender, true. 
But, on 12/21/12, its the end of the 5th Mayan Cycle. Not the end of the world. BUT!!! All the other cycles ended in some kind of disaster. So... Yeah... I'm really just hoping its some kind of weird coincidene and everything goes well. Afterall, I'm not Mayan. I'm Aztec. I learned that stuff from a Mayan in Chichen Itza.

The Mayans themselves have disregarded that theory. The 2012 'prophecy' is rubbish

There are many explanations as to why the calendar stopped there. Maybe the Mayans had to leave, died off somehow, or couldn't find enough materials to complete the calendar.

You know what?? 

This morning I blew my nose and I looked, I looked!! Usually I don't but something in my head told me to look and when I did I noticed my boogers and snot formed the date December 21 2012 and it made me realize, I should have just used my girlfriends sleeve instead. 
Now with me blowing my nose like that in kleenex, I too have added to this end of the world predictions.
I could be the next Nostradumbass.
