A light year is how far light travels in 1 year. Light would travel about 5,878,630,000,000 miles in 1 year.

Since light travels 186,232 miles per second. There are 3600 seconds in an hour, and in one day 86,400 seconds. So in one year light travels 5.877 x 10^12 miles

I love some of the "calculated" answers.
Just remember the number 6 .
About 6 trillion miles per light year.

a light-year is how far light travels in a year. light travels at 180,000 miles per second. 60 sec to a min, 60 min to an hour, 24 hour to a day, 365 days to a year.
180,000 * 60 * 60 * 24 * 365 = 5,676,480,000,000 miles.

The speed of light is 299,792,458 meters per second. First we must convert meters to miles.
How?
First we divide 299,792,458 by 1609.344 because 1 mile is equal to 1609.344 meters... by doing that we get 186282.3970512208701185079137835 miles.
Then we convert seconds to minutes then minutes to hours then hours to days then days to a year.
We do that by multiplying 60 (seconds) by 60 (sixty seconds in a minute). We get 3600. Then, we multiply 3600 by 60 (sixty minutes in an hour). We get 216000. Then, we multiply 216000 by 23.93446972222222222222222222222189 (because 23.93446972222222222222222222222189 is the value of one sidereal day when converted into hours). By doing that, we get 5169845.4599999999999999999999995. Then, we multiply 5169845.4599999999999999999999995 by 365.25 (365.25 days in a year). By doing so, we get 1888286054.2649999999999999999996.
Finally, we multiply 186282.3970512208701185079137835 (miles) by 1888286054.2649999999999999999996 (seconds in a year).
And we get 351754452506875.92793709735146724 miles.
Final answer: "Light travels 351754452506875.92793709735146724 miles in a year."

Light travels at 186,000 miles per second. Therefore 60x60x24x365=seconds in a year 31,536,000 x 186,000=5,865,696,000,000 miles in a lightyear

here's a trick
type in
1 lightyear in miles
into your Google search window.
the answer pops up like magic.

WTF, "Raging Inferno" you are an idiot, your answer is no where near right, lmao you think your so smart, fail.
The answer is just under 6 trillion miles in a light year.
