3 AnswersAstronomy & Space9 years agoOrion Sirius EQ-G Computerized GoTo Telescope Mount?
I am in the market for a good goto mount and have my mind made up on the Orion Sirius EQ-G Computerized GoTo mount. This mount will hold upto 30lbs.This is perfect for any scope I now have and want to use with it.My question is since this mount has the same drive motors as the Orion Atlas would I be able to upgrade it to accept a heavier load?I would just go for the Atlas but I am concerned about the weight of it-76lbs.as compared to the Sirius at 43lbs.
Thank you much,

3 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoWhat can we expect from the Solar Flare X2?
What can we expect from this ..
Sunspot 1158 has unleashed the strongest solar flare in more than four years. The eruption, which peaked at 0156 UT on Feb. 15th, registered X2 on the Richter scale of solar flares.X-flares are the strongest type of solar flare, and this is the first such eruption of new Solar Cycle 24. In addition to flashing Earth with UV radiation, the explosion also hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) in our direction.
Also what are Geomagnetic storms?

4 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoWhat do you make of this?
If it's been 13-14 billion years since the Big Bang, and the known Universe has a radius of 46.6 billion light years, and since c is the "speed limit", there seems a discrepancy that apparently is explained ...by the link below...something enormously powerful is pushing the expansion of the Universe. (At light speed I would think the radius would be no more than 13-14 billion light years.)

1 AnswerAstronomy & Space1 decade agoWhat am I seeing on Jupiter?
I am observing Jupiter at about 170x and can see a dark spot.Could this be a new hole in the cloud band or could it be the shadow of IO in transit?
1 AnswerAstronomy & Space1 decade agoStrange video of IO......?
Hi all,
Last Mon. morn. I was out observing and decided to brake out the webcam for some prime focal video of Jupiter. This would be my first attempt at such a task.To cut to the short of the subject,I took 3 or 4,30-50 sec.video's with mostly horrible results(trial n error). When reviewing the clips I found one with a very strange light moving into the Moon IO.Im very unsure of what this may be.The camera to Lens connection was absolutely light tight so any light must have came from the mirror. Can someone review this video and clue me in on what's what? Please E-Mail me.
