Are they really worth the xtra money?

Question

Im looking to upgrade my 7x35 binoculars to 10x50's.For use on spotting Deep Space Objects.Im getting older and my eyes are too.
Are the second binoculars really worth the xtra Money-

Hi Wally -

I'm struggling with the same decision. I have an old cheesy Bushnell 7 x 35 that I have used for years, and I know darn well that the 10 x 50s will be harder to hold, but maybe provide a little better view. Frankly, I am considering the Canon image-stabilized 10 x 30.

I am currently looking at this like a scope: if you're gonna buy one anyway, get a good one. I rarely regret spending more if I get something that is significantly better.

You might want to get 7 to 15 power zoom x 50's.     The exit pupil of the 10x50's will be 5mm
and may not all fit into your eye iris.   So the  light could be wasted anyway.
The 15 power is good for the moon and far away stuff.     Look on a web site about exit pupils
and size of pupils of eyes at various ages of people - Try Celestron.com or google "exit pupil" and binoculars.     They will be heavier to hold.    If you have the money try image stabilization - they
have a gyro inside that keeps them from wiggling.
