Can you really claim from Travel Insurance?

Is it really easy to claim from the travel insurance if your luggage is delayed or lost? Do you need to provide proof all the time? If you miss a flight and have to pay for a hotel or if you have to see a doctor abroad, what is the procedure to claim afterwards. Are insurance companies reluctant to pay back? Do they really give what they promise or do they make your life difficult when you want to get the money from them?

Yes they are reluctant to pay. However they will provided you have all the bits of paper. For delay or loss you will need the Irregularity report you should get at the airport before you leave the baggage hall. You will also need the receipts for the things you had to buy, and in case of loss proof of the value of what you lost. Tip: if you were going to Ibiza then they will be difficult if you claim for Armani suits! They will of course try to play down the value of used things. One major point: don't try to inflate your claim, it's fraud; they are wise to most scams; and it will put a mark on your insurance record for the future

Of course they are reluctant to pay out and try to find any excuse not to. So it's up to us to ensure we have every little piece of evidence possible to prove our cases and not keep letting them get away with it! Don't be fobbed off basically, I use the "Rhino" method, Thick skinned and keep charging!!! Eventually you'll get through.
