Do you think Sharpton will actually sue Limbaugh?
Radio talk-show icon Rush Limbaugh was angered earlier this week. He felt that there were words attributed to him that he had never said. He said claims of controversial remarks about slavery were unfounded, and he felt he was unfairly dropped from a bid to buy the St. Louis Rams.
Limbaugh took to his radio show to defend himself, but he didn't stop there. On Saturday, an op-ed piece written by Limbaugh appeared in the Wall Street Journal. But in that article, Rev. Al Sharpton believes Limbaugh crossed the line.
In the op-ed, Limbaugh attacks Sharpton, who was critical of Limbaugh's involvement in the Rams bid.
In 1998 Mr. Sharpton was found guilty of defamation and ordered to pay $65,000 for falsely accusing a New York prosecutor of rape in the 1987 Tawana Brawley case. He also played a leading role in the 1991 Crown Heights riot (he called neighborhood Jews "diamond merchants") and 1995 Freddie's Fashion Mart riot.
Sharpton quickly responded, making it clear he did not appreciate Limbaugh's words.
"I am definitely going to prove he makes reckless, unaccountable statements," Sharpton said. "Which is why he was forced out of buying an NFL team in the first place."
If Sharpton sues Limbaugh, it will be interesting to see if it gets very far. Both men have plenty of money and access to top lawyers, and it doesn't make much sense for this to drag out into a long legal battle.
Limbaugh has gained a lot of publicity over his failed attempt to help buy the Rams, and there's no question he will -- at some point -- address Sharpton's comments on his radio show.

Sharpton and Limbaugh are both jerks, it astounds me that anyone would have a positive opinion of either one of them.

They are both bad for America and if Sharpton listens to his lawyer he won't sue because he doesn't have a case.

That would be AWESOME I hope he follows through with it. Then America will finally see who Sharpton and his ilk really are. Actually, Rush has a very strong case slander case he's pursuing. The IP address that posted the original comments on Wiki belong to a law firm in NY that recently got into the "sports business" I would pay to see the Sharpton trial

Yes. Well Rush said Sharpton started a riot when that is a lie and a crime. Unless Rush apologies, I guess he's going to be sued. Rush is not the great white hope. I know there is a market for his show hate and racism but he can't go around a lie on people and say things that's not true. >0

Rush is a racist and a hate monger. Plus, he's a drug addict who abuses women. He's divorced after cheating on his wive. I just LOVE that repukes come to the aid of this guy.
Since YA is invested with his fans, the majority of comments here are pro-Limpballs, who can only dish out but is whining cry baby when someone pushes back.
Limpballs LIES, LIES, LIES and is UN-American in attacking the Presidency. He could've attacked Obama's policies, but he didn't, he attacked the presidency.
Sharpton tells the truth, that's why he'll win.

Yes unless Rush is man enough to apologies to him. Limpballs lied on him and said he started a riot. Rush needs to know he can't just get everything he wants and say defamatory lies about people without repercussion. He's not God even though neocons think he is. Sharpton and liberals wasn't the reason he didn't get the NFL deal. It's because he's a racist. ><

That would be just like a neo con, talk about tort reform and frivelous lawsuits then go out and sue someone. Typical Neo Con hypocrite.

Limbaugh is nothing more than a crybaby. He can't accept that his potential partners in the Rams consider him bad for business, and they dropped him. His ego just can't tolerate that, so he blames liberals and others for his failure.
Rush should stick to what he does best - being a blowhard. It's not enough that he makes millions having mental pukes on the radio, he'd just use a football team as a platform to spout more of his crap.

Good idea. Limbaugh is sexually perverted Republican-Neocon-Racist and drug addict.

He might but in order to win I think he has to prove malice & in celebrity cases that's pretty hard...

I've seen a lot of people - even liberals - come to the defense of Rush on this matter. I haven't seen too many people racing to defend "Reverend" Sharpton (what church does he preach at, anyway?)
Here's what I know about Rush (and I am a ditto head): If he is wrong, he will admit it, and he'll do it publicly. Love him or hate him, he's got a boatload of integrity.
Now, can someone please explain to me what Al Sharpton has done that has been a positive influence on society? If all you can come up with are civil rights issues, I'm not interested. Those are self-serving and usually have a hidden agenda.
I'm talking about genuine color-blind public service of some sort.
Sharpton and Jackson are two of the most devisive people I have ever seen. I can't help wondering, if we could take those two out of the equation, would we finally, once and for all, stop hearing about racism?
I grew up in a "white bread" world. I had no exposure to other cultures til I was in 8th grade. There was no "attitude" in our house, we just didn't have any exposure to anything but a WASP life.
But today I count among my friends and colleagues people of all colors and backgrounds. My job has introduced me to the international arena and I find a way to get along with each of them, even when I don't agree with the politics of their country. Sure, maybe it's my job, but I've forged some great email friendships with people around the world, and that isn't in my job description.
I know hatred, prejudice and racism exist. I just don't believe that it would be such a huge topic if it weren't for people like AS and JJ fanning the flames.
Am I wrong?
