Moto GP is it time to go back to the TT and the Ulster GP?
well just seen that first corner at Phillip's island and i think it would stop them from taking mad risks if the price of getting it wrong was higher. As my wife said she would much sooner see road racing and after to day race she has more respect for the road racer than the circuit racers who seem think crashing is a every day part of racing. So it seem to me that if they would not race on the road then they are saying they are not good anoth. well i am shore John McGuinness, Guy Martin and the like would ride the bikes. i don't like to see races and championship's decided by crashes Jorge Lorenzo seem not to see how dangerous they can be but the road racers no the risks and try and race safe. well in my heart i know it will not happen but would love to be a fly on the wall when the moto GP racer where told they had to race at the TT and Dundrod.
carl fogarty, mike hailwood, steve hislop, Ago and many more were good in both types of racing so don't knock the road racers and yes they do have actcedents do they don't ride like total mad men

I thought very similar to your sentiments a while ago, but, and it,s a very big BUT,it could never happen at the I.O.M.That in itself is unique and if you have had the chance to ride the course, even on a road bike you must realise todays moto-gp machines are designed to be ridden far too fast for the Island, sad though it is. One thing is certain,we will never again see a road/circuit champion.

Sorry AC, but even though I have nothing bad to say about riders like John McGuinness & Guy Martin, they are not good enough to ride at MotoGP level.
Yes on the road circuits like IOM, NW etc and even shorter road tracks like Olivers Mount, they are on another planet and I sit back in amazment at how good they are.
MotoGP circuits are getting fewer simply because of the saftey angle. The TT will NEVER hold a MotoGP round as its a killer.
Suzuka in Japan - Honda owned - ( after Kato died ) refused to change the right hander and Dorna have never raced there since. Mick Doohan crashed there in 95 ( I think it was 95 ) and just ran over the Helicopter landing place and rejoined the race, so maybe the corner was not to blame, however the track has still not been changed.
The TT is just too mad to ever hold a MotoGP now. Or the bikes are now too fast. Or a bit of both !
Source(s): Yeah I agree with you, Foggy, Hizzy ( Nicest guy I have ever meet , RIP ) etc are / were riding GODS, but I still stand by what I have said, there is nobody riding today on the TT / road tracks that is good enough to race at the sharp end of MotoGP. Our ( Brit ) best effort was my fellow Yorkshire man J52T, and even he could not win. - Anonymous1 decade ago
Im With Richard and Wiggysan, its about pushing the envelope. Im not saying that John Mc's 130 mph around the island isn't pushing. Its an unbelievable time. But its still not the bikes capability or his riding limit. Making it safe to come off (as safe as possible - Kato good example) means giving that extra 1%. you can only do that on the track. It also has a bit to do with Track surfaces that these guys can go so quick and get that extra grip you wont find on a road surface.
They all deserve recognition for what they do. But they are 2 different sports - with good reasons.
So No, They should not become part of the motoGP calender.

Sorry but I totally disagree with just about everything you say.
So no road rider ever gets it wrong and crashes, usually with much more serious consequences?
They are now 2 totally disciplines the listen to the guys who ride the pure roads and they will tell you that they ride withing themselves and the bikes capabilies as it is just to dangerous to ride at 100%, the circuit racers on the other hand are pushing themselves and the bikes to the limit at all times.
After all how many guys enjoy success on the roads but never quite make the grade on the track?

i agree they seem to not see the risk that there is in racing. but if i was that fly on the wall i think there might be a bit of a smell if you get what i mean
