When you finish you a jar of pickles, what do you do with the juice?

Some things I have used the juice for:

just drink it

making pickled eggs

making deviled eggs

adding it to tuna salad

letting someone else drink it

cut up a slice of bologna and let it stay in it overnight to pickle it

What creative things do you do with pickle juice?

I usually poor out most of the juice while getting the pickles out so I don't have to "fish" for them when it gets to be about 6 left.

On a related subject, when I was little some highschool kids were babysitting me and I asked for something to drink. They gave me pickle juice and told me it was lemonade. As a 6 year old this really traumatized me and I didn't start eating pickles again until I was 14 or 15.

Ooooooohhhhhh, adding it to tuna salad! Now there is a good idea!! **files in back of brain for future use**

I don't know what everyone else does, but I like to save pickle juice to pickle canned green beans. I like the cut green beans, then I drain the juice and then put the beans in the pickle juice. I am not sure how long to leave them there and have never noted the time, but I check once in a while to see if the beans taste pickled. I love putting the beans on salad!

Some of my friends like to pickle eggs with it, but I am not a big fan of pickled eggs. Bologna? Haven't tried it, but may when the current pickle jar is empty. If I don't use the pickle juice for green beans, I usually toss it.

I always take a sip of it,because I love vinegar,

but i trow the rest out, since the vinegar has lost most of it's flavor and is now useless to make pickles or anything else.

I keep the glasses jars to store things in or to make # creme fraiche # or to can goods in the spring.

Sometimes I make "fresh" pickles, by adding cucumber slices and onions and letting sit in the fridge overnight.

    here's one.

Take tuna, mix with miracle whip or the classic mayonnaise. And add some pickle juice to it.

Don't forget your seasonings too. I like lemon pepper in mine. yum!

I've basically only done the same things as you listed. Not much more than that & I don't really drink it much any more either. I like it best in tuna & eggs.

I save it for making a remoulade sauce for my fish dishes. It pairs very well with salmon and tuna steaks. I also like to drizzle it on my steamed vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower.

In addition to all of the above answers, IF you are going to throw it out..THROW it out on your lawn or grass and fertilize the grass with the acid...Why waste a good thing, as this applies to any acidic product.

  • It goes good in the melted cheese for nachos.
