Poem I wrote... Thoughts, Opinions, Criticism?
Surrounded in endless darkness.
Lightless, we are blind.
No assurance for direction,
Insanity, threatening our mind.
The Shrouds of Evil envelop around us,
We lost humanity and gained cruel thoughts.
We have lost all faith in god,
But in the distance we hear a crack in the Earth.
Demons emerge.
They creep towards me,
All others have left me astray.
The land shatters and reveals a lava sea.
I thought now I would die that day.
The monsters stop, why? I don't know.
But suddenly, a beast pops out of the fiery pit,
The devil. I knew it by the satanistic glow.
He stares down, and chuckles,
He picks me up and tells me these words:
"You, among the rest,
Shall die and descend to hell.
Potentially you can be the best
At evil and retain my spell...
You are an evil prodigy,
you will carry on my name.
You will continue my dread,
You will kill all without shame.
Heed my words, and listen well
And deny to repeat them to any.
Around thy neck I will tie a bell.
You shall wear it for all your life.
When be it that death strikes,
You will ring 6 times.
At completion of this task you will become an immortal.
The next devil.
If you fail I will grasp your spirit,
And for all eternity,
Shall I torture thee."
He lowered me to the ground,
And began to dissappear, I let out a stifled moan.
I look at my neck and surely there it was,
The bell that would define my soul.

I guess that you're a young adult and that this is your first attempt at publishing your poems. My opinion is that you should become more aware of the form and format of poetry. Some poetry is meant for the printed page and some is better as the spoken word. I notice that you move from rhyming quatrain to free verse. Is this a part of your artistry or just sloppy writing? Poetry is art and the rules are very loose, but you have to be aware of them to use them. I say you've made a good start but you have to study the art more if you're serious.

The different line lengths disturb the flow of the narrative and are not consistent throughout the Poem.Ask Jesus into your life and I can't guarantee the poetry will improve but you will get rid of demons and at least have far greater subject matter to work on and you will most of all be saved.
All the best David
