Is it ok to put 2 different species of birds together?
I have a sun conure in a huge Macaw size cage (yes, I know she spoiled). I would like to get a friend for her, but didn't know if its ok to mix birds in the same cage. Also I do not want any baby birds, will birds of different species mate? Or would it be better to get my bird dna'd and get the same gender to be on the safe side. If any of you know of a bird of similar size that would get along any info would be great, Thanks in advance.

It is possible to keep certain birds together.
I have heard of Sun conures and Janday conures getting along very well together... to the point where they produce hybrid 'Sunday' conures.
If you are closely bonded to your parrot, there should be no reason why your bird would require a friend- but, as usual- the closer the species- the better the birds are likely to get along.
If you feel that you dont want two sun conures- try looking at other Aratinga conures- particularly the Janday and the Golden Conure- who are closest related to the suns and more similar in size and appearance.
Birds of different species can mate, and produce hybrids- so you really should have your bird, and any future birds- DNA sexed- as hybrids are quite frowned upon.
I seriously recommend adopting another Sun conure, or a Janday conure- but if you want to keep the close relationship with your parrot- you will need to give both birds the same amount of handling- so its twice the amount of work for you!

its better if you get a conure because it may be used to it. make sure the birds are friendly with it before you put them in the same cage. keep the cages close together and try to introduce them. cause you may end up having one of them die if you dont be careful cause they can kill each other
