Does losing weight help with other symptoms of PCOS?
I seem to recall when I was first diagnosed that if I lost weight it might help with other symptoms, but I can't find anything to corroborate this. Am I just remembering incorrectly?
Also, if I'm on hormonal birth control to deal with the symptoms, that only helps with irregular periods and the associated risks, correct? Otherwise unexplained weight gain could be from the PCOS still.

Hi,
Weight loss helps. By losing weight, you'll more likely to have regular period, reduced hairiness, stabilized hormones levels more ovulatory cycles, and reduced risk of heart disease.
But, by losing weight, you'll will contribute to lowering insulin levels. Because high insulin levels has been found to contribute significantly to the many PCOS symptoms, reducing your insulin levels should result in an improvement in acne and hirsutism as well as decrease your risk for heart disease and diabetes.
