Better HD Streaming with N router on PS3?
I picked up a first generation 60GB PS3 a little while ago and have been using it to stream my video content from my PC to my LCD TV.
I currently use a D-Link 624 802.11 108Mbps wireless router and most conent is fine. However, the HD content chokes a bit when streaming.
It is definielty the wrieless and not my PC, since I can watch without issues if I am wired.
My specific question is this: Does anyone know if moving up to a draft N router will help? Or is the bottleneck on the PS3 end and thee built in wireless adapter on it? Anyone actually have experience with this?

Yeah, while I was waiting fo rthe answer I did some research and calculated where my problem is. You are right that the transfer rate is stuck at the PS3.
Once my bit rate on the vidoe files hit about 6MB/s it got choppy. That is really pushing the 54Mbps speed of the PS3.

The wireless adapter in the PS3 only supports 802.11b/g, so an 802.11n router would not improve things. I am unaware if some wireless routers offer higher speed over 802.11g than others, but it might be worth investigating.
A wired network would have the highest bandwidth (it's what I prefer for streaming media), but if you aren't interested in running cable then you could look into getting a 802.11n wireless game adapter which could then be connected to the wired port on your PS3: http://www.google.com/products?q=+wireless+802.11n... .

Ain't have been given something to do with the router. ANY router is larger constructive than rapidly sufficient to hobby or watch streaming video. it is your internet kit it somewhat is important. in case you have some crappy a million mbps get carry of apparatus, a router shouldn't make it quicker. Secondly, together as you're finding for for the perfect in on line gaming, a prompt router of ANY type is a damaging decision. records constantly travels greater advantageous smart via a conductor than it does air.
