If God is perfect, all seeing and all knowing...?

...then consider this for speculation. If God did not intend for us to ever die...Yet God is perfect, all seeing all knowing, why did God not see that Adam and Eve would sin?

Update:

Remember this is a speculative question...I give it to my Religion and Philosophy students. Thought I'd try it here on R & S.

Update 2:

As i said this was a speculative question. I do not speculate widely on defining God, but I do not believe that the great architect of this universe was playing games in a garden. I do not beleive the Genesis story as literal truth, nor most of the biblical stories as such. II do beleive they are allegorical in many cases and attempts to explain unknown events, like the volcano that probably wiped out what was Sodom and Gomorrah. Wherever or whatever God is, I believe their is a force we do not understand, perhaps it is collective will (noetics) or a great cosmic force of energy. But it is not logical or reasonable to accept a classical mythological view of anger, whim and such. If God were as described, it is a pretty dismal game to subject supposed loved children to.

That is my view.

He DID know they would sin. And he knew all the innocent suffering that would happen throughout the history of the world, and all the people who would not be convinced to believe in Him and be sent to an eternity of torture in a Hell He created for that purpose.... yet He created the world, and Adam and Eve, in such a way that all of that would happen anyway. All because ..... ummmm? Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

God knew from all eternity that mankind would sin. Without evil, there could be no victory over evil. The Virgin Mary is the Woman Clothed with the Sun, the New Eve who will one day crush the head of the serpent under her heel. We can share in her victory by praying the rosary for the conversion of sinners.

    The rosary is explained here:

God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent. Therefore, he PLANNED the whole thing.

He wanted them to fail, so he set them up for failure.

But it is just badly written mythology. so don't worry about it.

The bible is a fairy tale based on other fairy tales, and if you go to books.google.com, you can download a book called Bible Myths and Their Parallels to Other Religions. It was written 150 years ago, and was used at Harvard Seminary. It proves that most bible stories were "copied and pasted" and aren't even original, let alone real, and the priests know this too.

    There is only one answer;

Extra ordinary claims require extra ordinary evidence, no evidence exists for god or the devil but simple testing shows he/she/it doesn't exist

Here is a simple god test

    1. God you will post on every Forum, Blog, FAQ and Yahoo Answers Category on the internet in exactly 30 seconds (GMT) after this post has been made. You will post world wide and your post will state the following:

    "I am god, I exist"

    A) In every Forum, Blog, FAQ and Yahoo Answers Category must have the same exact time stamp based on human time GMT.

    2. Mr. Devil you will post on every Forum, Blog, FAQ and Yahoo Answers Category on the internet in exactly 30 seconds (GMT) after this post has been made. You will post world wide and your post will state the following:

    "I am devil, I exist"

    A) In every Forum, Blog, FAQ and Yahoo Answers Category must have the same exact time stamp based on human time GMT.

This simple test shows the devil does not exist, there is nothing that states we can not test god or we can not test the devil and if either does not exist then both do not exist. It is that simple

you cant buy into this kind of thing...like you have expectations for what god is just because of the past...the only thing in the bible worth buying into is jesuses teachings...you kno like the golden rule....just try to be a good person and treat others with respect, help people out when they need it, and you dont need to know all the answers, what if there is no answer...what if there is no god, does this mean you should go around killing people?

but the theory most chritians accept is that god gave people free will because he wants them to love him on his own and satan tempted them

You know what? If we are supposedly all the children of Adam and Eve, then aren't we technically committing incest when we have sex with one another? Incest is a sin so I don't see why the bible says this. And I'm not insulting God or anything so don't get all pissy about it.

Omniscience and omnipotence are mutually incompatible. As I have mentioned before, if God is omniscient, he must already know how he is going to intervene to change the course of history using his omnipotence. But that means he can't change his mind about his intervention, which means he is not omnipotent.

Where does it say that God did not know Adam and Eve would not sin?

  • 1 decade ago

God created man because he wanted someone to serve and love Him with their own free will. Unlike the angels we have a choice of whether or not to serve God.

  • 1 decade ago

He saw; he knew. He provided a way to overcome death and sin. He also knew mankind could not progress unless we experienced the ability to make our own choices and the consequences.
