what should i eat (college student)?

im a college student (guy) and i dont know what to eat. im tired of fast food and at the same time i dont really want to cook considering i have very little to cook with.

does anybody have any healthy ideas for something good to eat,

preferably with lots of protein

    Get a foreman grill or a grilling skillet, or a small hibachi...it is healthy way to cook. So is broiling, and roasting, and baking...all oven methods. Stir fry is a healthy stovetop cooking method if you have a wok, and soups are very easy to prepare and very forgiving on ingredients and skill of the cook. If you have a crockpot, you can prep items before bed, toss them together the next AM, and eat that night after school.

    In general, you know meat = protein but if you are on a tight budget, beans and rice are a complex protein equivalent to meat, and very cheap and easy in a crockpot. Another meat-money saver is to buy turkey products instead of hot dogs or hamburger. Healthier too.

    Chili is a great man-food because it is meaty and hearty. It is satisfies hunger and spice cravings, and is healthy without being a "health food". It is low carb, or you can serve over pasta. It is easy to prepare and can be made ahead and frozen. You can also prepare it in a crockpot while you are gone for the day. I make mine with ground turkey to save money and calories...but it has all the same protein. Oh and I add beans for added protein and to stretch the meat.

    Often there are "quick cooking" stickers on packages of meat...these are easy to cook and tend to be healthier cuts of meat. These include: chicken breasts, boneless chops, minute steaks or round steaks, tuna steaks, tilapia filets, as well as ground turkey, beef, pork, and chicken. Look for cutless and other quick cooking cuts of meat, and your meal will come together pretty fast.

    Marinating is a prep step for meats, where you soak meat in a flavorful liquid, usually oil based. Start with a quarter cup or so of olive oil, citrus juice, wine, or beer in a zipper bag. Then add flavor agents like garlic, onion, lemon, peppers, black pepper, hot sauce...whatever. You can also use pre-made marinade liquids, BBQ sauce, or salad dressings to flavor meat before cooking.

    You can buy frozen veggies in different size bags, and cook the portion that you want, with no waste. These steam easily in the microwave, and you can use a microwave steamer/rice cooker for veggies, pasta, rice, and more. Other veggie choices that are easy...corn on the cob, baby carrots, cooking greens (collards, spinach) and salad greens. Many of these produce items are available already trimmed and washed, so all you do is combine or plate them up. You can also use many prepped veggies for stirfry...shredded cabbage for coleslaw, baby carrots, sliced mushrooms, pepper slices, pineapple chunks, etc.

    As far as starches...if you are active there is nothing unhealthy about a plain old potato...they are cheap, plentiful, and so versatile. The healthiest way to cook them is probably baking, then pop the skin and add fluff, then add a little butter. If you want superhealthy, go with sweet potato. Similarly, there is white rice...or brown rice. And many many varieties of pasta, which just get boiled and drained.

    Mix and match your meat, starch, and veggie for endless variety of balanced, quick, and healthy meals.

    You could cook some roast meat and eat the leftovers on sandwiches

    You could eat ramen noodles, grilled chicken. You said you have little to cook with so these would only work if you have a pot. You could also try turkey burgers, veggie burgers or californic rolls.

    Sorry...I'm a college student also and that's what I had for lunch today. I guess it's just stuck in my head. But it does have a good amount of protein. My brother is a trainer and he recommends it.

    I'm not surprised because of Obama the food prices have gone out the roof!
