back when i was in high school, i had a senior army instructor in my JROTC program who was a lt.colonel while working for army intelligence. back then as kids in high school there were always rumors and the colonel would occasionally joke around about doing 007 type stuff and things of the sort. but one day i was looking at the award and commendations he had in his office and i noticed one in particular...

from what i can remember it was a wooden and obviously handcarved "trophy like" award. it was very elaborate and read "...army office of intelligence and counter intelligence cloak and dagger award...." (this is what i remember at least) and the wood carved figure depicted a jack the ripper looking character wearing a cloak, with his left arm holding a dagger as if ready to stab an enemy. now ive always been curious, does anyone know what this award is for?

a week ago a bad thunderstorm came through and lightning struck near my house ( in the driveway to be percise). about 5 minutes later the power was also knocked out.

now when i go to use the broadband connection on my motarola modem my computer and my xbox cant detect a connection.

the wireless connection through my modem works fine but the broad band is unreponsive.

is my modem dead? :(

i was at a rave party last night, and i thought rave music was always just a bunch of random beats, but anyway; during the music i heard this one song it sounded like a club or rave remix with what i think was T.I. singing with nine inch nails "only" as the beat. anybody heard this song?

btw anybody know any rave type music thats not just beats, but actually lyrics too, preferably recent mixes. i also heard like a rave mix of "i can transform ya" where do people even get this music?

I have a fender mustang, and when i have a cable connected to it i get alot of noise and sound cracks. if i move the cable while its plugged in it causes the sound to pop. im using high end cables (monster cable) and i've tried low end connections. what the problem, is the jack just not making good contact or does something need to be adjusted or repaired

i was wondering, in your opinion, do you think it would be a good idea to setup a music recording studio as a business?

right now im in college for a criminal justice degree and plan on making a career in law enforcement, but ive always been very musically inclined and just passionate about music in general. Dont get me wrong, i dont plan on abandoning my current carreer path (as a matter of fact i plan on doing both if the money and time is there) and i have no illusions about how hard it is to be successful in the music industry and how artist make money (what little there is left to be made).

i myself am a musician and make my own music. after hours of editing and sampling, etc, etc, i find that i actually enjoy the process of producing a record itself. so naturally i want to possibly explore the possibilties of setting up my own studio (perhaps one day a label). im prepared to invest as much money as necessary to do this, i estimate it would take at the least a 10-15 grande investment (not including leased office space, and yes i know what i will need to set up a studio). i live pretty close to raleigh north carolina and beleive i would probably set up somewhere in the research triangle. i also plan on being the sole employee / owner (maybe hire 1 or 2 people if i make money)

what i want to know is, how hard is it for a recording studio to make money? would it be hard to attract business in the raleigh area? and how much do music studios typically charge to work with artist?

how do music artist record sound samples from things like movies or from music already recorded by other artist. i know you can download from various sites on the internet, but i want to know how the proffesionals do it.

for example:

nine inch nails back in the 80's sampled horror movies as well as a few songs from other artist, i know they didnt use the internet, so how did they do it?

okay so me and my neighbor have been friends since as long as i can remember, we pretty much grew up together. well right now im in college and she will be going there next year as well. lately ive become very interested in her. about a week ago we were at a movie and during the whole movie we held hands and did that sorta semi- cuddling thing you do in a movie theater. i took this as a good sign she likes me too and i wonder if it would have went farther had my friend not been with us

anyways, i want to kinda see if i can start to get a thing going. the only problem is im still not sure if im only physically attracted to her or romantically attracted. id hate to "get together" and then decide im not interested. would a "friends with benifits" type relationship be good idea in this situation?

if so how should i approach her about it? ( and because she is my neighbor im kinda worried about making things akward and stuff.)

i turn 21 this weekend and to celebrate i really want to purchase my first handgun. i dont have a conceal and carry license so i will need to get a permit from my sheriff. i was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible for a sheriff to issue the permit on the same day of the application?

im a college student (guy) and i dont know what to eat. im tired of fast food and at the same time i dont really want to cook considering i have very little to cook with.

im looking to buy a nfa firearm such as a glock 18, or a mp5 type firearm. ive been looking into what is required to purchase them (paperwork and what not) but am confused about one thing.........

for me to buy the firearm is it required that the gun be made BEFORE may 1986, or is it possible to buy nfa firearms made after that date?
