did lightning fry my modem?
a week ago a bad thunderstorm came through and lightning struck near my house ( in the driveway to be percise). about 5 minutes later the power was also knocked out.
now when i go to use the broadband connection on my motarola modem my computer and my xbox cant detect a connection.
the wireless connection through my modem works fine but the broad band is unreponsive.
is my modem dead? :(

Sounds like it. I would call your provider to have them check it as well as ensure you cable/phone connection is ground correctly. It might also help to invest in a small surge protector.
