New Apple iMac Processor help?

What's the difference between 2.66GHz Intel Core i5 and 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo?

I am getting a new Apple iMac and am wondering what the difference is.

The Core i5's are newer processors than the Core 2 Duo's - they use a higher FSB than the Core 2's I believe, which means they will run 1:1 with faster memory. Additionally, the Core i5 is a quad core processor, whereas the Core 2 Duo is dual core. If you need the extra processor power/can afford the i5, go with that one.

Wow i didn't think apple would jump on the i5 bandwagon this fast. Anyways, core i5 is like the next generation of processors. But if you aren't using anything really demanding (graphics stuff, etc.) the core 2 will be more than sufficient.
