Should I cover my self inflicted cuts on my wrist for my job interview? (pictures included)?

The job is for a christmas casual position at an active wear shop that promotes healthy living, and being a confident woman.

It's summer in Australia, so long sleeves will look odd.

I've included pictures if you wish to view the cope of my scars.

There are no 'new' cuts ie. the last week.

If you think I should cover them, with what or how?

If you think I should not worry to cover them how should I best address questions if directed towards them?

Is it possible for you to get some stage makeup to cover them up, as stage foundation will stay for longer, especially in warm conditions. To bandage it up will look to obvious. failing that, you could wear a long sleeve top which is semi see through, so would hide the scars enough to divert peoples attention.

  • Sure you can. They're not that bad, just multiple.

I have some pretty amazing make-up that works really well for covering up scars. I believe it's called Maybeline Dream Matte Mousse. You can really just get it at wal-mart. I would also buy some...hmm... I don't really know what the stuff is called. But it's the powder brushes that help it last really long.

They also make pretty inexpensive medical make-up. Sometimes even less expensive than actual make-up, I've heard (though I haven't looked into it...).

You can also where baby legs. You can find them at any "baby legs" website. They're great.

I do have pictures of one of mine in one of my previous questions... I absolutely do know how difficult it can be to cover up scars.

    Good luck

If you want the job then i definitely wouldn't show your scars, especially as the job requires you to promote healthy living, which i don't think you could argue self harming is healthy. You could wear a shirt, as although it's hot it won't look odd as most people dress smart for interview, or you could wear a loose blouse. If you want to wear short sleeves then you could wear loads of bangles, then it will look more like fashion than trying to cover up.

i didn't look at the photos, but you must. you're not going to get the job if they see cuts on your wrist.

The only thing i can think of, in terms of covering it, is by wearing a good, tight bracelet that won't fall down, or maybe wearing some sort of arm band?/wrist band?

i'm sorry if this doesn't help out much, but when long sleeves don't come into play, i can't think of much else outside of what i just offered.

If you are not in therapy, you should seek help for your cutting problem. If you are in therapy, then answer honestly. You may be asked to provide documentation from your therapist as a condition of employment. They can't make you do this, but they don't have to hire you, either.

Please seek help if you haven't. If you don't know any adults you can trust, just go to the nearest emergency room. They can't just throw you into a psych ward, don't worry about that. But they will have plenty of good advice and information about programs in your area.

Those need to be covered. Try putting makeup or concealer that is your skin tone on them. A chunky watch or some other wristband will help as well, also try to keep your arms turned in.

Good luck! and remember, if they ask, it's none of their business!

At the job interview, wear a blazer. Dressing in a business suit for an interview doesn't look out of place, no matter what season it is.
