Penultimate Costume.....?

Ok.. So someone I know has to do a vocabulary parade and there word is Penultimate(which means next to last) All I could think of as a costume with a calender with the penultimate dates of each months X'ed out. Also it would be good if it was kind of ... not that much wooden stuff becasue I'm not good with that kind of crafting... So hope you can help!

I'm sorry I do not agree with Maryn. The word comes from the latin paene meaning almost and ultimus meaning last. The only way a second place could be penultimate would be if there were only three in the race.

However, taking Maryn's idea a little further, you could have 3 winners' ribbons denoting first, second and third, with the first and third crossed out.

Anything that wins second place is also penultimate, remember. He could simply be dressed up as if he were attending an awards show, and have a red second-place ribbon.
