How do I stop harrassment?
Someone that I want nothing to do with called me collect 7 times yesterday. I rejected the calls, but how can I stop this person from making them. Who can I call? I can't change my number right now, and they are calling from pay phones. I know who the person is. Can she get a ticket or something?

Contact your phone company and block collect calls. You can get a restraining order or possibly an order of protection against this individual but without proof you will have to pay for the order for the judge to sign off on it. I would recommend you logging everything in extreme detail in a journal so if it comes down to it and you need an order it will be easier and most likely free too rather then paying a few hundred. Block the collect calls through your phone company first.

Just keep rejecting the calls, sweetie! I know it has to be completely frustrating, but if they are coming from different numbers, then there is really no way to ascertain WHO it is, to request a restraining order. :(
Is this person calling from jail? If so, there is usually a block jail calls feature on most phones, just like blocking 900 numbers. I do not believe that it costs, but it may vary with which company you have. I also know that you can block calls as they come in...check the front of your phone book for the code, as it may differ by area, as well. I think in Missouri it is *69 to automatically block calls from the last call.
Good Luck!
PS...another idea? Drastic and might cost you a little with accepting the call...but invest in a LOUD WHISTLE. Accept the call and then BLOW! ;O)

wow those people are all stupid, she dosnt mean COLLECTION calls, she means calling COLLECT, like the old carrot top commercial.
when you make a call from a payphone and the person you are calling has to accept your call.
and you could have your phone company block all calls from pay
phones.
and if you know who the person is, you can probably file harrasment charges aginst her as well
hope this helps :)

I'm not sure that you could classify attempted collect calls as harassment. However, if it continues, it wouldn't hurt to make a police report on the matter. That could eventually lead to a no-contact protective order.
