How did Pitsburgh win a cup with Hal Gill on their team?
Dear Pens,
Will you please take Hal Gill back? He is simply awful. Seriously, you would have been better off handing him to the other team.
He can't shoot. He can't pass. He can't skate. He isn't fast enough to make any decent hits. HE IS AN OFFENSIVE LIABILITY.
Any time he gets the puck in the neutral or offensive zones, he gives it away to the other team. The only situation he is even remotely useful is on the penalty kill when everyone is huddled in front of the net and all he has to do is stand there and be a wall.
My question: How did Gill make it into the NHL, let alone for 11 seasons? Does this man have any redeeming qualities?
BQ: WHY MARKOV?!? WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GET INJURED?
BQ2: Remember when Toronto was 0 and 7?
IN BEFORE EVERYONE TELLS ME I SPELLED PITTSBURGH WRONG
Spaceboy: You and I both agree about Tucker, but Gionta is the MAN. He is the fastest little bastard I've ever seen.
Homes: I completely forgot to mention all the useless penalties the guy takes. I don't know why he thinks hooking someone is an acceptable alternative to catching up to them.

Not to mention the canadiens over paid for him. He played really well for the pens in the playoffs, but yeah he's not that talented.

as much as I hate to assert it, the USA of a will at last win the international Cup. i do no longer think of it is going to ensue every time quickly, yet quicker or later, they'll win one. the challenge is, a majority of the human beings residing right here won't care and those that do, will forget approximately approximately it interior a month. it is existence contained in the U. S.! I went to the friendly between us of a and China final weekend - 20,000 human beings there ... i'm guessing that is a touch terrible crowd in Europe or South united states of america. soccer? There are in basic terms 2 gamers in American soccer that fairly kick the ball. 2 out of 40 5 on each team - are not we large!

I've wondered the same thing for years. I was thrilled to see him traded out of Boston, and now I am just ecstatic that he is playing for the Habs!
Aside from all your points, my big issue has always been that he is so big yet LITERALLY gets man-handled by much smaller players. Maybe now that Montreal has all the smallest players in the NHL (Cammalleri, Gionta, Gomez...) he'll be better off.
I equally detest Gionta...so for me to have the Perfect Team to hate, all the Habs have to do is acquire Darcy Tucker!

Maybe the Habs should beg the Kings for Rob Scuderi. They made a good pairing last year. I don't know. He does handle the puck like it is a hand grenade.

Before the "instigator rule"/lockout, I remember him being a bit of a goon. Also, as you had noted, he is good on the penalty kill. I saw one game where he drew like 3 penalties....but I am not sure if he still has a talent for that or not. Maybe he has good leadership skills. Yeah, I am grasping at straws....who knows.

They made of for his short comings by having a stellar roster full of talented players.

We knew his strength, the wing span and ability to take up space we also knew his liabilities, everything else.

the only reason they won is because crosby didnt play game 7.
im sure if they lost it would be "pens lost because crosby didnt play"
he sure seemed fine to come back out and take the cup. haha.
