I would say go to your vet to decide what is really wrong with the dog because it may be an underlying condition that you need to take care of but it may be that he walked on the road when it was to hot and his paws were burnt. I would say geting a balm from your local store like Walmart or someting where ever you purchase your pet supplies and then apply this balm. I would make sure that you get the kind that a dog can injest because they will always like it off. Try putting an old sock on his paws and taping the SOCK not the dogs fur tight around the leg not to tight thought. That should help but you do need to go to the vet.

Have you taken your dog on a walk on a rough surface such as asphalt or a tennis court? Is there any reason to believe that the dog has worn his pads down, that this is a physical injury? Has he been exposed to something that would cause an allergic response? Have you changed his food? Does he have fleas? Is your dog old or young? Some older dogs get dry skin just like humans do. You need to narrow down the possible cause of the red dots. You can get an ointment from most pet stores for cracked and dry pads. You can get dog boots but most dogs wont leave then on for long, you can try googling for the design for the dog pads that the dogs running sled races use.

The reason your dog is licking them could be a number of things. It could be just allergies. My puggle has horrible allergies and I just give her benadryl every day. You don't want to bandage them up because they do need air and it could irritate them more. You can put socks on them, they still allow the foot to get air, or I've known some to use vaseline to help if they are dry. But, you really should call your vet because it could be an infection, or something worse and you never want to give your pet any meds that your not sure of.

You didn't say if you took him to the Vet or not.
If you haven't, please do it ASAP. He could have anything from a fungus infection, burned pads or a number of other things wrong with him. Home remedies won't work especially if you don't know what is wrong.
There are things that you can use to cover the feet that will stay for a good while but again, covering the feet without proper medication to heal the problem.won't work and is cruel. It may also add to your problems.
Don't let this problem get out of hand or you may allow damage to get worse that cannot be put under control when one trip to the Vet would cure the problem.

Do you mean to WHERE he does not want to walk on them? People, here, are not vets, and even if we were, your dog cannot be diagnosed online. Do you mean make them WORSE? This is a great question for your vet, not a bunch of strangers online. Why would you trust people, here, with your dog's health? Taking advice from strangers could make the problem even WORSE.

Call your vet for crying out loud.
You cannot bandage them. The dog will take off any kind of dressing that YOU put on.

If your dog is having trouble walking on his feet then you need to call your VET to diagnose why they are red and painful. Home remedies can make it worse

my grandmothers dog always gets sores so just make your dog relax in the house for a day or two and put something like neosporin, some sort of healing cream, on the irritated areas
