our neighbors abuse their dog. What can I do?
I and my roommate have seen them hit the dog, yell and say mean things. I'm not sure what to do and I don't really want to confront them because I think it would start war.
I live in an apartment.

u should call police/cops (whatever country u live in)
It isn't fair how they are treating a dog, just cos it is an animal, does not give them the right to abuse it. The dog probably didn't even do anything wrong. We have neighbors who hate us, and we know cos the amount of times they've confronted us. If they are hitting the dog, they have no self control, if they are yelling and saying mean things, they could annoy someone or something easily. Put yourself in the dog shoes, how would it feel?. You really should do something about it.

I have a secret dog abuser in my neighborhood whom I suspect has PTSD. He uses firecrackers, high frequency/pitched noises, blowers and buzz saws, for moments throughout the day that are brief. There are plenty of intervals where little happens and I think he's trying to not get caught. Two dogs scream in terror oftentimes. I phoned the police twice, they went out twice, and told me I had the problem and to stop phoning. It was devastating. This man threatened me once when he knew I put in the call and lights firecrackers, hoots like an owl and screams like a hyena in the backyard with an odd "Ill get you" call. He gets off on being a bully. My heart breaks each day when I hear those noises. I phoned the SPCA and they said they can do very little if the dogs are sheltered and eating and appear fine. I try to not let it get under my skin, try to have other neighbors catch the sadistic vibe, but few people are interest. It makes me feel like I'm crazy but I know exactly what he's doing. Any advice?

I had this little dude and his tweaked out girlfriend move in across the street. They didnt live there long b/c they spent all their money on drugs and couldnt pay their bills. But while they was there i would go outside at night and could see him beating his pit. The dog was super mean and now i know why. I called the cops but they wouldnt do anything so i borrowed my brothers paintball gun and froze a bunch of the balls to make them hard. The gun was one of those that shot a bunch real fast... I made a film of him beating his dog and then unloaded on him. He pitched a fit and threatened to call the cops but when i told him that i had video of him beating his dog he backed off and i didnt see him do it again. Best thing i can figure was that he was doing for the sole purpose to make her mean.

Well, I think the best thing to do is keep your eye on the dog. what my sister did when her roommate abused her cat was my sister kept a jornal for 3 days about what happened with the cat and took a video for proof. Look on the internet if this gets worse to find an animal control station near you and call. Don't be afraid these police know what to do and if your roomate is doing something wrong, they will be arrested.
Good luck.

If you truly believe they are hurting him. Call the police and say that you hear(and if you see) Record it when it starts so you have proof. it is not fair that the dog has to get abused. i wouldn't confront until the police are there cause they could be aggressive to you and may hit you. I would offer to the SPCA to take him to the vet and give him ex rays.

Sweetheart, please call animal humane society but call the cops first, you will save the poor dog's life, please do this, call the cops and every other organization, ok? Trust me, they won't stop this even if you talk to them, I've seen it, you need to call anyone you can think of starting with the police, only that will help. Thank God there are people like you out there, God bless xx
Remember: If they are capable of doing this to a helpless dog who can't defend itself, they can do it to a child too!

Don't waste time calling ASPCA. They suck and ignore most of the calls. Call your local cops and tell them about what you see. Try video-taping or taking photos with your mobile phone\camera so you have proof - they will find very hard to trust you without proof. If possible, take a friend to be your deposition.
Good luck

Look up the number for your local Humane Society and file a report. You can report anonymously if you choose to, or just ask them not to mention where the report came from to your neighbors.

Call the police obviously, it's animal abuse. They could get arrested for it... Personally I'd call the police cause its just not right.
