I am new to linux and computers as well what Linux distro is best to start?

I want to do web dev and App dev need to start a little slower than centos that is what I have now

I can go back later

I need to get used to linux after being spoiled by windows

    a lot of people prefer ubuntu or kubuntu to start with, i persoanally think it's worth it to just fight the good fight and start with a real distro like Debian (on which the previous two are based)

    Another GREAT distro i really like is Mandriva, but my all time favorite so far is Debian. Has a TON of packages and is VERY configurable and really stable (even if you go to the "testing" and "unstable" versions, though i'd start with stable till you get a feel for what you are doing).

    Dont strrt with Centos, it is old and stable. Really for servers.
