How did the Mycenaean people win the Trojan War?

Legend has it that Odysseus tricked the Trojans into allowing Greek heroes into the city, hidden in the belly of a wooden horse ostensibly left by the Greeks as a parting gift for the goddess Athena.
Whether that was the actual ruse which worked can be debated. What would have had to happen, however, is that somehow the Greeks would have had to breech the walls surrounding the city. We know from Thucydides' account of the Athenian expedition to Syracuse during the Peloponnesian War that Greek armies, even as late as 415 B.C., had no capacity to storm cities fortified by walls. Either the invaders had to starve the defenders out, or they had to obtain entry by local treason or trick.

Odysseus tricked the Trojans into accepting Greek soldiers into the city by use of a huge wooden horse. When the Trojans thought the war finally ended, they saw a huge wooden horse left by the greeks. They assumed that the greeks made it to make a sacrifice to Athena for a safe voyage home, but instead it held several soldiers who opened the Scaian Gate to let in the others and that's how Troy was destroyed
