Can you join Mensa without taking a test or without having taken ACT, GRE, etc. due to high grades?

My son did well in K - 12; he took admissions test and no tests such as ACT, GRE, GMAT, etc. He was admitted to Drexel U without taking any such tests. Mensa allows admission based upon results of these tests, but since he did not take any such test, can he "test out" and join Mensa?

Update:

I know what the Mensa site says; what I am trying to find out is, for those who never took any of those standardized tests because they were not required to, will that suffice in lieu of actual test scores?

In other words, if a person is so smart they can be admitted to Drexel U without taking GMAT, GRE or similar, that alone should be sufficient for Mensa purposes. After all, only the elite can be admitted to Drexel U Master's Programs.

Thank you.

I didn't have to take any standardized tests, and was still admitted to Harvard, but I still had to take an IQ test to get into Mensa. Your son's school should be able to administer an IQ test which will qualify for Mensa acceptance. Otherwise, the test costs about $60.00 It isn't that expensive, so if you cannot find a way to skirt the exam, you may just want to pay the application and testing fee.

"Generally, there are two ways to prove that you qualify for Mensa: either take the Mensa test, or submit a qualifying test score from another test. There are a large number of intelligence tests that are "approved". More information on whether a test you have taken is approved, as well as information on the procedure for taking the Mensa test, can be obtained from the nearest Mensa office. There are no on-line tests that can be used for admission to Mensa."

No, there is no way to join Mensa without submitting proof of one of the qualifying scores. Mensa is a private social organization, and does not generally alter the membership requirements.

However, you could contact the National membership officer and explain your reasoning, and perhaps something can be arranged.

IQ tests are not an accurate assessment of intelligence. Firstly I don't wont to sound rude but by asking this question you obviously doubt your own intelligence. If you are good at word puzzles such as crosswords or maths puzzles you have some talent at art or music then you will probably be above average intelligence. Remember having a high IQ does not guarantee that you will be successful so don't place to much importance on this question and accept the fact that we are all created equal and how we apply ourselves and conduct ourselves is a better measure of what type of person we are than our IQ.
